Down the road, afternoon.

Marie is tending Pierre's deserted garden, weeding the roses.

The mown hayfield is clean and dry, I lie down there for a little. Molly eats grass, telling me she's hungry.

I love the fact that you laid down in the field! Did you feel self-conscious . . . or perfectly comfortable?

There wasn't anyone to see me so nothing to be self-conscious about! I usually like the idea of lying down on grass more than the reality, into which bugs, ants, cowmuck or just dampness often intrude, however, this was a very clena, dry inviting field. I'd been quite busy gardening, so it was nice to stretch out and the sun was warm!

Glad to hear about the Winchester Cathedrals!

I love lying down on grass, or in fields.

When I was in Zagreb, a Croatian friend and I were walking in a beautiful park. She said, "I noticed in America that people really do lie down on the grass in public, just like they do in movies. I think that's so neat. No one here would ever do it, I don't think."

Then we did actually see a couple on the grass, but of course it was a couple, oblivious to the world around them, so not quite the same.

Anyway, I'm glad you got to do that!

(And, yes, it's a bit hard hard the way bugs and vaious itches tend to eventually detract from the more romantic aspect of communing with nature!)
