Up the road, late afternoon
The mares have gone from the paddock, and all that remains of the sweet-smelling apples in the orchard is ciderish sour pulp. The countryside is shutting up shop for winter.

Yes, on my walk today I noticed that the last of the roses and blackberries are waterlogged and shrivelled.
I have a basket of bruised apples by the side of the house, and the other night a friend saw a badger munching on them!
