Up the road, morning (Sunday)

We take a stick and a straw shopping basket for foraging, and I come back with scratched and purple hands. Mirabelles, wilding and crab apples, blackberries. The sloes can wait.

Lucky you to have such bounty! We're picking blackberries and hazelnuts, and stealing apples from a tree overhanging the road.

Hello both!

The mirabelles are an unusual feature; a farmer who loved them planted the hedge years ago, I believe. The climate here is a bit iffy for them, some years there are none at all, but occasionally, as this year, they are very plentiful. The blackberries are almost over already, amazingly soon for the end of August...

The big jam pan and dripping jelly bag are working overtime!
