Down the road, late afternoon.

Two ends of the rainbow, broken pillars, bright to north and south.  Between, a tapering swathe of black cloud, which throws a brief and petulant shower of hail onto us.

beautiful description, I love skies like that.

I envy you the drama! Hail does seem rather petulant and tantrumish.

We just returned from New York, where the sky was that swollen, dense looking grayish-white that brings forth almost continuous snow. When we arrived back in England, yesterday morning, it was similarly gray . . . but seemed so much more lowering, for some reason. (The girls and I agreed on this.)

Thanks both.

Perhaps the drama and vitality of the city alleviates the effect of the weather, and coming bavk home to more of the same winter is lowering in itself, Bee!
