The old railtrack, morning

The canopy of the woods is thick with bird sound, woodpeckers whir like ratchets from tree after tree.  A flock of tits accompanies us for a while, chiding and chivvying.

Beautiful - its like that here too, except I've not seen any woodpeckers yet this year

Hello! I looked plenty but didn't actually see them, though they sounded very close. I've seen them elsewhere though, including the great spotted in the garden occasionally. They really were very noisy that morning, the drumming seems to be to some extent territorial.
