Vet's surgery, Loudeac, morning. The last thirty words.

Now's the time.  In the end her spirit passes lightly and gently, but she leaves all her love behind. She has always been with us and she always will be.

From your posts here and at Box Elder, it was, is, apparent how much Molly was loved and cred for. She had a quality of life most dogs in the world will never know.

You and Tom were a blessing to her as much as she was to you...and, through your blogs, to the rest of us.

I am truly sorry for your loss.

Thanks Martha. Yes she was spoiled rotten, but she also had too much pain and illness in her life, which we will always regret. We did our best. But she was a fighter and had a great heart, and didn't go till she was good and ready; it really was the right time.

I was talking with Alec about where dogs go when they die, and I think perhaps Mol will be strolling and snuffing happily through the scenes in your tiny accounts.

I'll miss my (too infrequent) stops at this blog -- it brought me so much pleasure to see you carrying on the idea that I started.

Thanks Clare and for the idea in the first place. I too haven't been here very often lately, partly because Mol wasn't up for walking much in the last few months really, but I always likes having this quiet little outpost.

The other morning I went for a walk round places we used to go together: up the road, down the Tantouille lane, into the field with the mirabelle hedge, and everything seemed so golden and vivid and kind of heavy with beauty. I found myself composing word pictures as if for this blog. But now both my ancillary blogs are finished with, their onlie begetters having passed on. Wherever Molly's gone is where I want to go, and whimsically I imagine her giving Joe's face a good slurping in the afterlife!

Oh Lucy, I know how much it hurt when I lost my old cat.

I've been thinking of you and Tom and I hope you do find some comfort in the walks taken together and in the knowledge that Molly's love suffuses it all.

CGP and Rouchswalwe, thanks, and for your visits here over the years.

Yesterday we went to settle the vet's final bill, and afterwards walked by the watermill at Guette-es-lievres, resolving to do so more often, it was very beautiful there too.
